This project was about designing a book for a sub-culture. I chose cosplay. The inspiration for the project comes from Japanese cartoons and the annual Cherry Blossom Festival in San Francisco. I was doing research and interviewed a couple of cosplayers from an event they were having. After the interview, I found the reason why people are interested in cosplay, because they want to be another person and want to show themselves in a different way. They often hide their inner passion and energy in day-to-day life because they are afraid of how people might judge them. Cosplay gives them a chance to show their true self.
