Domus Linneaus
Design contest new vantage point Hartenkamp estate, 2011
The historical dutch estate Hartenkamp near Heemstede is best known for the residence of the famous botanist Linnaeus in the eighteenth century. During his stay here he wrote his international standard work on botanie  based on the renowed plant collection of estate owner Clifford. Realizing a new vantage point at the spot of a long vanished tea pavilion is therefore the ideal place to honor both men. The entry 'Domus Linneaus' (house of Linneaus) constitutes a new folly in an abstracted House form in which the original engravings of Linneaus are carved. This creates a particular play of light and shadow. Mass and space. Facts and imagination.
