Bow Tie Box (Packaging)

Bow Tie Boulevard Bow Tie Box
This project was simply to create a new box design, one that involved only folds, creases, and slits as well as box-making instructions that were tested out on several non-designers. We were asked to make the box represent or unify with the product we were placing within the box.

When I started developing the bow tie box concept further, all decisions made were intentional. This box was created to be black for the sleekness and simplicity. The buyer can envision how the tie would fit with their black jacket. The clear window bodes an opportunity to truly see the bow tie for what it is, avoiding all the frill and crazy outer packaging that currently exists. On the back, the logo and text was also very simplistic and minimal to reenforce the cleanness of the overall packaging.
Below are the design boards that were presented.
One of the crucial elements of the project was to write our own instructions on how to fold the box, which was one of the biggest challenges. As a designer, you know how to make the product you created, so translating it to an average consumer or person can be tricky. These instructions were tested on six different people (due to time constraints) and through edits, work successfully.
