Pall is woven of white textured yarns graduating to gold metallic in the center to form a gold cross when placed on the casket. Edge is bound with handwoven trim of cotton, rayon, linen and metallic yarns. Corners are rounded. It is seamless woven using a double weave technique.
A pall is placed on the casket when it is in the church. It signifies the baptismal garment reminding us of our salvation through baptism into Christ as the way in which we enter heaven. It also serves to conceal the casket so that it makes no difference if it is the plainest pine box or the fanciest the funeral home had to offer. All are equal in the eyes of God.
