The majority of my work consists of designing book covers and interiors freelance for Elsevier, a medical and health sciences publisher. This nursing text book features photographs of families of varied ethnic and cultural backgrounds on the cover as well as a mosaic theme which carries through to the interior of the book.
I do not handle typesetting and layout of live pages for Elsevier but rather design a sample chapter or two which includes all design elements present in the manuscript. I then then create a set of written specifications covering all elements for the compositor to follow. Sample InDesign files with master pages and style sheets are also provided.
