Wood hangers at boutiques, despite their elegance, have a sinister past: each produce a significant amount of waste during their fabrication. Let that settle in for a moment -- something so massively produced, must create waste at a staggering level.
This is TEETLE, a hanger made from laminated ash wood. The core concept being, the lowering of manufacturing waste by utilizing rectangular laminate blanks cut from veneer.
ABOVE: Initial concept, modelled in SolidWorks, rendered in KeyShot.
Final prototype can easily hold a heavy Canadian winter jacket -- the weight of it being second only to polar bears. Serious. Ask any Canadian.
Debuted in IIDEXCANADA 2016.
