(变)幻 was made for Twentyfour 2015, a Singaporean inter school video making competition where participating teams have just 24 hours to write, shoot, and edit a film based of a theme announced at the start of the competition. (变)幻 is the result of cohesive teamwork, a failed attempt at staying up all night to edit the video, and a great bundle of delicious McDonald's breakfast meals.
An elderly man spends his days revisiting his past as he recoils into his illusory world of nostalgia. The magical innocence is quickly dispelled when his daughter returns home from work and he is thrown out of his world of comforting memories to face the hard truths which she presents. (变)幻 questions the moral dilemmas of pragmatism, amnesia and family in a rapidly-modernising world.
