I moved to Savannah the summer before my sophomore year. Like many young people starting off on their own, I needed a job. I looked for weeks until I fell upon an ad on Craigslist asking for a line cook. I replied to the ad " I had never cooked before and was desperate. Long story short, I was accepted for the position. There were plenty of applicants that I am sure had more experience, but for some reason, I was chosen. This was the start of a new life for me.
It has been 6 months since my first day of work. I have been promoted, received a raise and met some amazing people. From working side-by-side with those people, I’ve learned some invaluable life lessons " basic cooking skills, time management and hard work.
I spend over 30 hours each week with the AVIA staff and I’ve grown close to each one of them. They have all helped so much along the way " here is my tribute to them:
