The Waitress by Jack Zipes in the context of the reinvention of the book format. The project received an ISTD 2012 Honorable Recommendation.
Received an International Society of Typographic Designers (ISTD) Honorable Recommendation
The brief: invest the book with the innovation and experimentation of the magazine format.  The concept was to embody the story of The Waitress within the context of the extinction of the printed book format.  First the grid was superimposed to educate "the new reader" how traditional book margins and layouts were constructed, then gradually as the book progresses it tries to survive the digital era and reinvent itself by physically interpreting digital publication techniques and becoming more deconstructive.  The look and feel was inspired by Modernist Bauhaus design because of the influence it had on publication design in the 1930's to 1950's.
