Hristina Zafirovska in her latest project named “Mainstream” remains faithful to the basic typical modules of her works so far which primarily are: line and form, contrast and rhythm complemented with the idea based on the concept of dynamics. Unilateral description of visuality of represented paintings-objects seem to be difficult, because of the many components that create the whole. The formal description includes the complex relations and function of the line as beginning of the creation process of the work, color as defining the expression and the experience; and form which has brand new function in the latest works.
The relationship line/color/shape in the works is complex: it moves in the direction of expressive interpretation of the idea of creation and interpretation of the movement – if the line is impulse to move the creation, whirls, dynamics (especially presented in many graphic moments and very small details)… colors applied on the surfaces are more intensive and expressible contrast (where unlike previously the black color is completely reduced). In this relation is particularly striking the contrast of the wide clean painted surfaces and meticulous processed detail batches. The ratio of color, applied to a wider spreads, purified forms and clearly defined contours refer to pop-artistic or more precisely strip elements.
The two dimensionality of the irregular shapes inspired by nature and animal forms is also retained but this time they are not limited by the surface of rectangular canvas. The fragments and individual sequences become independent entities and form of allocated details serves as a carrier which forms the shape of the work. Because of that this associative natural forms become concrete objects in space and the dynamics and the shape of the line becomes a lever of the shape of objects.
Artistic elements of the works in “Mainstream” are reflecting the idea that in its base contains the psychological condition of today`s (urban) man, and they represent its psychological conditions such as cramp, pain, happiness, pride, vanity… and of course the relations that grow out of from the mutual (conflict) interaction of the subjects in the “basket”. Mainstream is a symbol of mother, proto – beginning from which is creating a pure creature who transforms and infects during its development; exactly the process of content metamorphosis is represented by the dynamics of line, shape, color. Project of Zafirovska is criticism of the human filth and represents her desire to avoid his transformation and the desire to maintain the purity of the child – whose function reflects the concrete treatment of the color in these works.
