This is me?
Stereotypes are my main focus of these portraits. Capturing the idea that all people are all the same once the clothes come off, the make-up whipped away and the hair washed clean. Through controlled settings, staged lighting, background, props, and models, I wanted to have complete control over the result of my images. Lighting was vital in this series. It allowed me to cast a shadow of a specific word on the white sheet backdrop. With the interesting lighting and exaggerations of the models clothes and gestures, I straddle the line of humor and severity when portraying stereotypes of young adults. If these photos have a mission, it is this: to inspire people to look at others for not what they’re wearing on the outside but who they are on the inside.
