Breaking The Mold

Imagine giant honeycombs that appear to float like pillowy connected clouds far in the distance. As you get closer, their undulating shape takes on delicate yet bold angles and you realize the surface isn’t penetrable, soft or malleable at all — it is glass, only in an entirely new, and one-of-a-kind design incarnation.

Honeycomb glass was created in collaboration by the world’s leading cast glass manufacture, Nathan Allan Glass Studios Inc. and celebrated interior designer/fashion model MaryAnn Meppelink. As one of the latest innovative products in the company’s popular Convex Series, Honeycomb’s deep cells/pockets add airy strength, a first in the A&D industry.

A leader in kiln-formed, decorative cast glass products, Vancouver-based Nathan Allan Glass Studios brings all its creativity and craft to this new product where light, shape and durability come together in seemingly impossible skeins, resulting in ethereal sheets of glassy honeycomb shapes, to be used in a myriad of settings and applications.

Designers and architects can also choose different opacities such as the clear glass version that allows light to refract through the glass forming a deep bubbly appearance, or the white-metallic colored option which Carter says creates a kind of “pillowy effect, similar to many fabric-roof designs on large sports stadiums.”
Whether used in exterior or interior applications, Barry Allan adds that the new product will allow “large amounts of light to travel through it or it can provide privacy with opaque or frosted finishes”, while noting that Honeycomb glass would be a dramatic and bold choice for a feature wall in a lobby entrance where first impressions create lifelong memories.

Unique, exclusive, and unlike any glass product ever designed or viewed, Nathan Allan and its Honeycomb Glass have, indeed, ‘broken the mold’ in every way.
Ready to collaborate? Let’s get connected.
