The following artworks are part of Michelle’s thesis about incorporating colorful bead art with acrylic painting as a medium exploration. Its objective is to create texture and depth through patterns inspired by the motifs of the Mansaka and Mandaya people (Lumad) in re-illustrating the children’s book “Manggob and His Golden Top” by Vilma May Fuentes published in 1985. The book is based from a Mansaka epic which narrates the enchanted adventure of a young Mansaka boy named Manggob who is in pursuit of finding his long-lost sister and to retrieve his golden top.
