Neutrinos to Nanoscience
Colorado State University's 2012 Research Colloquium
One of the many questions raised at this colloquium was whether neutrinos are faster than light.  Scientists working the OPERA particle detector in Italy concluded that they were.  They eventually found a bad connection between the GPS and a computer that brought the results into question, especially after many other teams doing the experiment were not getting such an exciting conclusion.  It would have been revolutionary for disproving Einstein's theory of special relativity. My photograph of a sparkler was to capture the spark of creativity and hard work that these experiments and others produce, along with the question of what will happen next and what it will mean for us all.
This is the final poster for the Neutrinos to Nanoscience colloquium.
These are my comps in preparation for the poster exhibition.  The slightly v shaped symbol and the sprinkles stand in for the very very tiny neutrinos and the three stands for the three oscillation flavors of neutrinos.  I also included different photo and type solutions for the fireworks.
