DUNGEONS & DRAGONS
EVENT ADVERTISING ART
Wizards of the Coast approached me to produce an illustrated poster for their live Dungeons and Dragons event at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles.
The idea for the poster was to paint the 6 actors (Shelby Fero, Utkarsh Ambudkar, Brian Posehn, Emily V Gordon, Dylan Spouse, and Matthew Mercer) performing at the live event titled Force Grey: The Lost Episode.
I approached this project initially by sketching several compositions that explored the actors' personalities and visually communicated their characters' storylines. This piece was interesting, because I only had limited visual references to work from, which gave me a lot of creative freedom.
In addition to the Dungeons and Dragons narrative, I tried to include the Egyptian Theatre in the design. I did this by framing the characters with pillars and decorative elements from the theater's interior.
Once I had finalized the composition, I drew the preliminary sketch on my iPad Pro with the Apple Pencil, and then colored it using Adobe Photoshop on my iMac and Wacom tablet.
The completed artwork was used for the advertising of the event and to decorate the interior and the exterior of the theater. Signed prints of the poster were given away to fans, and, in addition, chocolate bars designed by the cast were also produced featuring artwork of each actor.
