SCOPE: The new voice recorder is easy to operate by both novice and expert users. The shape intuitively indicates where the microphone and speaker is, button functions are split up and the interface structured by three carousel menu layers. This new hierarchy allows novice user to quickly find the main actions, recording and listening back, more advanced features are hidden on deeper menu levels, still available for expert users.
INSIGHTS: User insights and scores can verify design choices and help to transfer UX/UI design into a proven scientific discipline, rather than an additional marketing choice! Even a redesigned product, based on user insights needs additional testing to erase the last mistakes. Even the clearest icon can be misinterpreted. Some function cannot be solved with only an icon, text is needed.
