An Abundance of Forgotten Items
This series is comprised of exteriors of pawn shops and signage for various local services. The typography transitions from professionally made signs, that hang from buildings to hand-painted words and images on deteriorating walls. In order to get a wide variety of locations and architecture styles, I drove around the suburbs surrounding the city and the older parts of the city to find unique locations. Throughout the series, the typography styles change along with the socioeconomic relationship of each photograph’s geographic location. Stylistically, I focused heavily on cropping to achieve compositions that would enhance a specific feature of each photograph.
