THE SOUL OF THE DRIVE

(Winner: Best HMI/UX Design | Car Design Awards 2016)

What if we completely re-imagined the way we interact with cars?

This provocation sparked almost two semesters worth of research and development towards this senior capstone design project. The question of “why does this exist?” is essential to our modern, dynamic digital world. As auto makers look for ways to keep up and differentiate, I see huge potential for a leapfrog vision of what user-centered automotive interaction could be in the future.

The primary challenges I identified in this space are to establish trust between people and autonomous systems, to leverage digital technology to reflect genuine human behavior instead of assumed, and to inspire a new love of driving in our autonomous future.

This proposal brings together product design and interaction design disciplines to communicate a holistic experience. Guided by insights from an aspirational lifestyle, it is a vision for the passionate achiever who demands experiences that are seamless, celebrated, and performance oriented. By delivering trusted autonomy, intuitive interactions, and a celebrated drive, this concept defines a future for automotive interaction.

This is THE SOUL OF THE DRIVE.
