THIS IS THE MATCHING COMPANION PIECE TO MY KING KONG "KING OF THE ISLANDS".
This scene I painted for the 2016 Tiki Oasis Art Show. The theme of the show was "Monster island", celebrating the original monsters of the silver screen age—but imagine them in Hawaiian shirts, sipping on rum drinks.
Inspired by a behind-the-scenes photo from the set of the original 1954 film Gojira, I asked myself: what if it was not a nuclear weapon test that was responsible for the creation of Godzilla—but an overproof rum accident at the local tiki bar?
