Need or Greed
A prototype of an online interactive game
__________________________________________________________

Concept

This game is to let players question their consumption patterns through simple steps.

Need or Greed facilitates kids' active and smart thinking, players move to higher ranks in the game when they know how to find alternatives to buying new things (applying the Recycling concept - Reuse). Need or Greed also presents the players with a variety of product choices - when choosing items with a longer life cycle, and less packaging they help in decreasing trash that end up in landfills (applying the Recycling concept - Reduce).
Vector graphics of the game
A few hover-state examples of items that a player can find in the main room.
The yellow text boxes only appear when you hover over the related object, providing text description of the object with a small hint.
A sample of the encouraging statements that pop up when the player selects better alternatives.
The player is given a Shopping List that needs to be assessed before going to the next phase, The Market.
The player proceeds to choose existing objects that could work as an alternative, applying one of the sustainability concepts - Reuse.
(To make the prototype of the game, the graphics of Need or Greed were developed on Adobe Illustrator and the interactive walkthrough was built on Adobe Flash Catalyst.)
