This project required an essentially typographic interpretation of any selected brief set out by the International
Society of Typographic Designers (ISTD). I chose the brief entitled , which required an exploration of the complex relationship that exists between plants and humans. The brief asked a celebration of plants in any form or variety and was, therefore, quite open.
My project follows the history and life cycle of a single plant, Vanilla. The narrative of the plant is designed in a
circular fashion, mimicking the cyclical nature of growth and plant processes. The interpretation consists of two parts: a traditional representation with a logical narrative structure and an abstract subversion that represents Vanilla Essence.
