Gerhard Amanshauser was an Austrian writer. In addition to novels, short stories and poetry, Amanshauser's works includes autobiographical as well as philosophical, art/critical and other essays, reviews, lectures, radio plays, a children’s book and a scripts.
He always looked at this world critically by holding the position of outsider and by describing the modern society through means of satire.
Autobiography of his youth, As Barbarian in the Prater is more than just an autobiography.  It is story of a boy, his childhood and family relationships written with the self-critical and anti-political views.
Inspiration for illustration was Nazi Youth uniform, and the scenery on it is made out of its elements.
Hitler Youth summer uniform is consisted of black shorts and tan shirt with pockets, worn with a rolled black neckerchief secured with a woggle, usually tucked under the collar.

Flag that was used was a red-white-red striped flag with a black swastika in the middle, inside a white shaped diamond. Full members would also receive a knife upon enrollment, with the motto "Blood and Honor" engraved upon it.
It happened in Vienna in the year 1941. He was 13 years old and member of the Hitler Youth -  youth organisation of the Nazi Party in Germany.

He found himself in Prater amusement park.  He wasn’t there as a innocent kid that came to play and enjoy, he was there in Nazi uniform, freshly trained to kill.
