In this fantasy world the central character has been vanquished, he and his world have been metaphorically stripped of their flesh but are now in the process of being reborn like a Phoenix rising from the ashes. The woman in the background is the chronicler of the story of their world inspired by the narrator in the beginning of David Lynch's "Dune".
