Cajamarca es una región ubicada en el norte de Perú. Con una población de más de 1,300,000 habitantes, es considerada la quinta región más poblada del país, después de Piura y La Libertad. Dentro de su territorio, Cajamarca está conformada por trece provincias: Cajamarca, Cajabamba, Celendín, Contumazá, Cutervo, Chota, Bambamarca, Jaén, Santa Cruz, San Miguel, San Ignacio, San Marcos, y San Pablo. Dentro de la actividad económica de todo el país, Cajamarca cumple un rol importante, puesto que actualmente representa el núcleo económico, turístico, minero, industrial, comercial y cultural de la sierra norte del Perú. Sin embargo, a pesar de que la agricultura, la ganadería y la minería son las actividades más importantes que Cajamarca realiza, son también las que más conflictos mutuos presentan.
Este proyecto fue realizado en el 2016 y tuvo tres semanas de duración. En él, tuve la oportunidad de conocer a diversas y maravillosas personas de la Sierra peruana, especialmente agricultores y ganaderos de la provincia de Cutervo, y aprender de sus estilos de vida, sus problemáticas, sus miedos, y sus sueños.

Cajamarca is a region located in the north of Peru. With a population of more than 1,300,000 habitants, it is considered as the fifth most populated region of the country, just after Piura and La Libertad. Within its territory, Cajamarca is conformed by thirteen provinces: Cajamarca, Cajabamba, Celendín, Contumazá, Cutervo, Chota, Bambamarca, Jaén, Santa Cruz, San Miguel, San Ignacio, San Marcos, and San Pablo. For the economic activity of the whole country, Cajamarca plays an important role, since it currently represents the economic, tourist, mining, industrial, commercial and cultural center of the northern highlands of Peru. However, despite the fact that agriculture, livestock and mining are the most important activities that Cajamarca performs, they are also the ones that present the most conflicts.
This project took place in 2016 and it was three-week long. In it, I had the opportunity to meet diverse and wonderful people of the Peruvian highlands, especially farmers and ranchers in the province of Cutervo, and learn from their lifestyle, their issues, their fears and, their dreams.
