The Great Gig in the Sky

Sonoridad monumental que sublima la conciencia a una atmósfera remota incapaz de ser habitada por humanos es lo que “The Great Gig in the Sky” (The Dark Side of the Moon, 1973) evoca, una canción que embelesa: es capaz de irradiar sentimientos indescriptibles. Representar visualmente el universo empíreo de Pink Floyd es un desafío que abracé para elevarme con los grandes, un grabado en homenaje a una canción que me grabó.

Monumental sonority that sublimates the consciousness to a remote atmosphere incapable of being inhabited by humans is what "The Great Gig in the Sky" (The Dark Side of the Moon, 1973) evokes, a song that enchants: it’s able to radiate indescribable feelings. To visually represent the empyrean universe of Pink Floyd is a challenge that I embraced to elevate myself with the great, an engraving in homage to a song that engraved me.

Los aullidos estridentes de Clare Torry entonan la narrativa de la canción: la tensión del grabado es hacer justicia a la voz y alcanzar la potencia las notas. Además de las venas marcadas en la garganta quería otro elemento que enfatizara la intensidad, las manos fueron ese elemento (inspirado en el icónico mural “La marcha de la humanidad” de David Alfaro Siqueiros). El deseo es plasmar la magnificencia de unos gritos que dejan de ser humano para volverse cósmicos.

The strident howls of Clare Torry intone the narrative of the song: the tension of the engraving is to do justice to the voice and reach the power the notes. In addition to the veins in the throat, I wanted another element to emphasize the intensity, the hands were that element (inspired by the iconic mural "The march of humanity" by David Alfaro Siqueiros). The desire is to capture the magnificence of the screams that abandon humanity to become cosmic.

La placa / The plate

Aguafuerte y aguatinta fueron las técnicas empleadas sobre una placa de zinc de 20 x 30 cm, la primera técnica ilustra la silueta, cabello y manos, la segunda concibe el cosmos, crea profundidad a través de brillos y sombras en las manos, cara y cabello.
