DES BAKER COMPETITION

The design of multiple small interventions (which can be referred to as ‘urban objects’) distributed across multiple locations in a decentralized manner, and networked as part of an urban strategy to address the problem of homelessness

I focused on designing a light weight steel frame unit that fits within the parameters of a parking bay. These units will act as security nodes overlaid in its context to increase the communities security while adding accessibility to the general hygiene needs of the homeless.

The units are multi functional and consist of a hygiene unit with toilets, showers and washing areas as well as a security and storage point. The other unit acts more as a social node by easily removing smaller components within the original frame and adding in new ones to create a barber with multi plug points for the homeless.
