Identifying the Problem
On the profile page, there is no shortage of selecting which contents to view at a glance with a three-column thumbnail by spreading the pictures.
However, after you select(tab) and view a large image — view a comment, and then like it, — you must return to the profile page to choose what content you want to see next.
If you do not exit from a specific content view, you CANNOT select the next one.
Use Flow sketch in (Android) Instagram for contents consumption in one’s profile page
Hypothesis
When users visit a person’s profile in Instagram, the most frequent action they do and put priority is is to ‘look at/through’ contents of photos & movie clips, rather than(ahead of) make comments / Likes /messaging.
Approach : more efficient and effective consumption
For allowing other contents to be viewed(selected) without returning to the profile home, I came to think of the carousel UI, but not just one but 3 alternatives as follows.
