Logo Design
October 2016

This project required creating three logos each for two different clients and their company's specific needs. The three logos were to follow three different style clusters for a total of six unique logos. Style clusters were provided by the professor, allowing the student the choice of the most beffting groups.

The first company and client I created was Kang Wu Drysdale, a pet food company, whose brand was WU. The style groups I felt most appropriate for this industry were:

1) Cheerful, Family Friendly, Warm
2) Executive, Simple, Modern
3) Bold, Contemporary, Vibrant

The second company and client I created was Gala Montfleury, a luxury restaurant chain, whose brand was Gala. The style groups I felt most appropriate for this industry were:

1) Timeless, Elegant, Sophisticated
2) Nostalgic, Complicated, Old-Fashioned
3) Elaborate, Professional, Luxury

Once I had decided upon the style groups I did some research into existing logos for the pet food industry and luxury restaurant chains to get a better idea for color and type usage. With these ideas, I then started the traditional and digital sketch process- experimenting with color, proportion, shape and the placement of logotype and icons.

The final six logos I chose for the pet food company and luxury restaurant chain were selected based on legibility, clarity and most fitting to their respective style cluster. The logos needed to be readable when scaled down in size for products such as small cans of pet food, flyers, or business cards. There is a second version of the logo scaled down and altered where applicable.
