The Rhino
Daniel Dodaro
This is the first actual drawing I finished even though I began working on "The Abyss" earlier.
The Abyss
Daniel Dodaro
I actually started working on this first and finished "The Rhino" in between. It started off as a doodle in Physics class.
Santiago Styx
Daniel Dodaro
I worked on Santiago Styx in the Outer Banks, North Carolina. I named it Santiago after the main character in Ernest Hemingway's The Old Man and the Sea, and Styx came from The River Styx in Greek Mythology.
The Spirit of Dirt
Daniel Dodaro
I created this one while just drawing detailed designs in a hodgepodge like manner. After I finished I noticed that many of the designs resembled different animalistic characteristics. At the end of this (It took a long time to finish) there appeared to be many smudges of ink that looked like sand or dirt, because of this and the animals I named It The Spirit of Dirt.
The Gallow Tree
Daniel Dodaro
I just kind of wanted to see if I could draw a tree.
Santiago Styx: Colored Edition
Daniel Dodaro
I wanted to see how one of my prints would turn out if it was colorful, so I used the one I thought could use color the most. I ended up hand-coloring the entire thing.
Eating Through Darkness
Daniel Dodaro
I didn't want to just do a simple Pacman, so instead I did a kind of parody on Pacman using my detailed designs, and pictured him eating through darkness as a kind of shining light. I took my pen and let a good amount of ink build up and then I used my finger to spread that around, it took a long time to create all the black ink shadows in the background because of that.
Shortcut to Destiny
Daniel Dodaro
I used to always wonder what a stairway to heaven would look like in Led Zepplin's song. I tried my best to draw what i imagined: geometric, inhuman steps mixed with pure chaos. I ended up calling it shortcut to destiny.
Halfling's Leaf
Daniel Dodaro
I was always a huge fan of Tolkien. There were few things  I could draw well in his universe using my style, but the focus on "pipe-weed" in his novels always was fascinating. I decided to work on a design of two pipes smoking together.
Ruah
Daniel Dodaro
I went to Catholic School, and whenever they mentioned the breath of God I was always fascinated by how that would look. In this picture I tried to draw Ruah (The Breath or Spirit of God), creating new life.
In The Hall of the Desert King
Daniel Dodaro
I always wanted to draw Egyptian and Arabian Architecture, so I tried to draw a desert temple to the best of my ability and combine both styles.
Looking for Hope
Daniel Dodaro
This is the final picture in my first collection. I started it a year ago and never really got time to finish it. The meaning depends on the viewer, but the edges are blurry and partially cut out because it is larger than most pictures I do and you can't scan the entire thing.
