One of my favorite musicians, Frank Ocean, released the most highly anticipated albums in 2016 after a 4 year hiatus and I was really struck by the poetry and artistic visuals that he portrayed. In his song "Solo" he sings "There's a bull and a Matador dueling in the sky, inhale in hell that's heaven". The metaphor being logic (the bull) and emotion (the matador) constantly battling. After about 100 listens I had an urge to try and apply a more artistic and poetic approach to design, how cool it must have been to write these highly visual stories. I yearned for this sort of creative freedom in my own work, rather than seek out visual imagery or moodboards on pinterest, I wanted to take the pure visceral reaction I had from the song and use it in design. This project is the culmination of those thoughts.
