Minnesota Pet Breeders Association’s Code of Ethics

The members of the Minnesota Pet Breeders Association are composed of professional dog breeders, as well as hobbyists. Since 2005, the organization has hosted seminars regarding canine care and responsible breeding practices. It also highlights the value of breeders in Minnesota’s economy, by providing locals with opportunities for employment.
To ensure best practices within its organization, the Minnesota Pet Breeders Association established a code of ethics. The code requires its members to provide disease prevention practices and veterinary care, use humane methods for necessary pet disposal, equip personnel with knowledge on proper pet handling techniques; and pursue professional development for the pet’s welfare. All breeders are subjected to the provisions of this code, which is regulated by the US Department of Agriculture.
