The Transformation Project
These four illustrations for a series which display the passage of time and the changes it encourages within the landscape outside my window. This was to show transformation through my use of colour and choice in lighting in order to further my knowledge of technical tools and observational drawing while abiding to a brief. These illustrations in particular have been based upon a timelapse i created from my bedroom window capturing a photo every hour until the day came to an end.
'Dawn'
In the first illustration of my series i chose to depict dawn focusing on a variety of orange and pink hues to show the way light is touching the areas surrounding the housing. As well as looking deeper into how contrast and the saturation of the images i am creating.I enjoy creating atmospheres within my landscape/background works as my colouring style makes it increasingly easy to manipulate areas of light and dark.
'Mid Day'
A digital outcome using personified colours to represent Midday and the passage of time when compared within in the series. I made a heavy focus on golds and yellows within this illustration as midday is often associated with bright light and a clear day. I chose to move towards an incredibly simplistic design as it was not about capturing the fine details, this piece was about capturing the light and colour so that in turn i could show movement.
'Evening'
I have then created a illustration based around the evening, i had chosen to use purple, grey and blue tones to create this illustration as i felt they strongly linked to the time of day as well as many autumn flowers being shades of purple. In particular i enjoy working with many levels of colour to build up into a larger piece as it allows a far more intense approach overall.
'Night'
Finally i developed my final illustration which focused around the night, in terms of colour i have chosen to use variations of deep blues and spots of vivid white to contrast the darkness which was being created by this choice of colour scheme. I chose to place a particular emphasis on the lighting within this illustration using yellows and golds to represent the strong lights from the buildings and the street lighting.
