These pieces are the flagship designs of my Hyperfuturism book, that takes an abstract look into the galleries of a futurist universe. The main feel is that of robotics meeting biology, in an attempt to create artificial intelligence that is powered by both biological structures and digital components. Something of science fiction I know, but it is probably the best way to skew ones thoughts in order to design beauty and function.
"Mechanical Offspring"
An abstraction based on harmony, love, compassion and thought transmission between the youth and an adult robotic system. The work was done in a way that suggests the creatures are in some kind of meditation, swapping their thoughts through visible wireless telepathy. Their size could be similar to that of a human or microscopic, which is suggested by their floating in a soup.
"Fragment"
A gargantuan system built from the element of wind and the power of electricity. I didn't plan on replicating H.R.Giger but it is obviously very similar to his Alien. My piece is supposed to be an electronic system, perhaps surveillance and guard hardware. This is still a powerful and unique piece considering the strong unintentional link to Giger.
"Gorilla"
This represents the pureness of electricity that consumes our everyday lives. Eventually we will have so many cables and so many things switched on, that they will form little animals behind our work stations. If you have ever experienced a tangle, which I am sure you have, you will sometimes see beautiful Celtic knot work and many Disney characters. This is a gorilla, which will probably become extinct one day, revived for your amusement, and the pyrotechnic team will now burn through so much electricity to animate him It appears that the power is fluid to the eye.
