Lixeira de Praia
Coconut and waste collection
This is a Beach Trashcan made for the events of the 2014 FIFA World Cup and the 2016 Olympics that will take place in the city of Rio de Janeiro. Its objective is to gather coconuts’ shells separately from other trash in order to use its fibers as raw material in a large amount of industries and at the same time collect all the rest of the trash produced in the beach in an attached tile that can be easily positioned closer to the swimmers, turning into a easier thing throwing away all the trash produced in a entire beach day. Besides that, this trashcan makes the "wonderful city" sight a lot more beautiful, with its clean and simple design.
The main challenge was to create innovations that not only make the trashcans better for use on the beach, but also help decreasing the amount of trash left in the sand and improving the recycling of coconuts. All of this had to be incorporated in a single new object, that should have the same general dimensions of the trashcans used nowadays by the Rio de Janeiro City Hall.
