I have a vision for a new healthcare system that looks holistically at patients as people and services them as such.

Australia’s present healthcare service is amazingly proficient at treating patients’ medical conditions. The vast majority of information that is currently communicated between patients and staff is of a clinical nature and there is good reason for this; however, it often creates a gap. 

What I have discovered is that when the personal idiosyncrasies of a patient are not only communicated but used to consider the patient’s delivery of care it results in a more personalized, positive and economic service of healthcare not only for individuals but also for healthcare providers.

For twelve months I have partnered with Austin Health to create an inpatient communication tool. Through Co-design methods I have developed a tool that aims to facilitate this three-way communication of information between: hospital staff, inpatients and their family and friends.

The project has been trialed on three wards across the Austin facility and has the potential to be implemented in 1,000 beds across Austin; potentially annually impacting the experience of 100,000 inpatients.
