Heather Haines1717 Lansing Ave. Unit 46 Sudbury, ON 705-688-6929Haines.email@example.com March 17, 2010 RE: Communications Position To whom it may concern, I am a graduate of the Public Relations Program at Cambrian College, and will be graduating from the Bachelor’s of Communications Program at Laurentian University in April of this year. A full-time position would be ideal for me as I am a recent grad who has experience with working in an office setting. I can bring new perspectives to any current or upcoming projects. I am proficient with written materials such as media releases, media kits, reports, and fundraising ask letters, reports, presentation notes etc. As part of my education I took a course in writing and editing using CP style. As well, I have a thorough understanding of windows and the internet. I have had exposure to Access and basic website experience. My program of study highlighted and enhanced my abilities to be able to handle various tasks put forth. I am able to multi-task, follow orders, and also take initiative to ensure that work is completed in a timely manner. I have been encouraged through my education to be innovative, to use my creativity, and do work as part of a cohesive team. A lot of my experience has been in time management and prioritizing, which gives me the ability to work in time sensitive environments. I have worked in several positions which have had me working as part of an overall team dynamic, which I think would be relevant to this position because it will be a benefit when developing relationships with co-workers. I worked as a Student Ambassador for the Cambrian College for one year and as the Director, Student and Academic Affairs with the Student’s Administrative Council for one year. Both positions in the college helped to hone my skills in the Public Relations field in regards to interacting with the public under many different circumstances, and with organizing student activities on campus, including fundraisers, and tours. As well in both positions I worked with social medias, such as FaceBook and blogs, in order to communicate with students on upcoming events. I am a people person who is able to talk to clients and help them to find what they are looking for. I am a quick learner and am confident that I would be able to learn how to work at your business with ease. Throughout my years as a student and as an employee, I have used all Microsoft programs, including word, Excel and Outlook, and am proficient in all of these programs. I am able to work as both part of a team or alone. I am goal-oriented, driven, and not afraid of hard work¾qualifications vital to anyone who will be a productive addition to your business, as I would like to be. I would be available as soon as May 1st to begin working with your organization. I look forward to hearing from you so that we may schedule an interview.
