These were proposed designs for a Unity hosted conference just for the emerging world of AR (Augmented Reality) and VR (Virtual Reality). Here is the previous year’s logo for the summit.
Firstly I looked at different typefaces that might encapsulate the word ‘vision’, VR or have a futuristic feel to them.
Since the previous year had used a font similar to Eurostile so I started with that and splayed it out to become the 3 axes of the Unity cube.
I played with the idea of VR and AR being like windows onto the world.
I tried to combine ‘AR’ and ‘VR’ into a single lockup with an eye for the ‘O’.
Next I wanted to explore something that conveyed the alternate reality created by AR and VR. I used a mountain as an interesting triangular shape. I also thought it could be an iceberg to convey that there was much more beneath the surface of VR than people realized.
I loved the red but had to also do a version in the yellow and blue combination.
Finding parallels in the ‘V’ and ’N’ I created a simplified and elegant ‘vision’.
