The Archives was documentary directed and produced by myself for my final major project at Plymouth College of Art; where I was studying an Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production with Technology. The aim of the documentary was to show and explore the vast records and items within PWDRO (Plymouth and West Devon Record Office); while doing this, it also expresses and illustrates the relationship between the archive and its staff and volunteers. Some volunteers spend most of their leisure time at the archive, and because of their time and dedication, the archive is able to run five days a week. Tasks at the archive are mostly digitising documents and photographs - which the public can access online for free. PWDRO is a part of the new £21 million pound Plymouth History Centre Project; which is a massive renovation and extension to the Plymouth Museum and will combine the archives, Plymouth Museum, South West Image Bank and the South West Television Archive under one roof, available to the public in 2020. ere.
