LEVEN & IMITATIE
Life & Imitation.
We live in a polluted world, in which we are desperately looking for solutions. But we have solutions and they are to be found in nature. Nature has been finding energy efficient solutions for its organisms through millions of years of evolution. This book, the result of extensive research, shows these nature-based solutions, applied in technology, such as in the field of products, transport, food and industry.
To accurately tell this story, the book first takes the reader into history. For example how dinosaurs developed wings to fly. Flying is not a human skill, but nonetheless we aspired to get into the air. Inspired by birds, the Wright brothers were the first fliers. Airplanes and many other technical innovations made great progress in the twentieth century. But this progress entailed pollution, in this artificial world. The chapter about the present shows the problems of pollution. But even more, it shows the beautiful and varied solutions against pollution that nature brings us. This inspires us to look at, and use technique in a whole different way, more economical. The chapter about the future brings skylines of that future, where the energy-efficient solutions acquired a place in the world. Life & Imitation is visually pleasing to the eye. The reader is drawn into this exciting and new story through unique illustrations, collages and special techniques, used by the designer. A book made of natural materials enriched with specific techniques, that convinces us of an improved future world.
