For this assignment I was tasked with creating a Hawaiian shirt for my Digital Media class. This was the first major project done in this class on Adobe Illustrator. I was asked to create a pattern in the pattern maker and then apply that pattern to a shirt design that was traced out with the pen tool.
Materials: Adobe Illustrator, Apple Mac
Creative Process:
For this project I wanted to incorporate the alligator texture somehow. I feel I should have put a bit more thought into putting that texture beside a red star and a green circle, it appears to have a Christmas theme but that's not what I was aiming for. After importing a shirt as drawing reference I got more practice in with the pen tool tracing it.
Production Methods/ Workflow:
I enjoyed working on this project, first I imported the shirt for drawing reference. Then used the pen tool to make paths around the shirt. I thickened the stroke on the collar as well as on the left/bottom side of the shirt to give the appearance of light on the right side. Next I designed my pattern in the pattern maker, afterwards applying it to my shirt. I then designed the shirts tag in the pattern maker to apply to the collar to give it a more authentic feel.

Conclusion:
In conclusion I did like working on this assignment. In the future I hope to pay more attention to detail as well as putting in more time to finishing a polished product. The Christmas texture is out of place so I definitely should have put more thought into my design.
