The Workshop
Day 4- Screen Dailies, Analyse Performance, Discussion on (post) editing strategy with existing dailies and footage

Camera 1: Takes care of doing camera work in the student’s point of view
Camera 2: Takes care of close ups, reactions and interactions of the students/teachers and students/students.
Camera 3: The wild card, they are allowed to experiment with different camera movements/shots

Location: possibly room 58, if it is a student in the theatre, asking Mr.Clark to use his office

Mini Documentary Assignment

Camera Angles/movements:
-The eye level shot of students going into their classroom,
-Eye level shots between students’ interactions and teacher-student interactions
-During our interview, we put the one being interviewed offset to the right or left
-Some close up shots on specific student reaction
-Full shots that isolated the teacher from his class

Editing:
-Putting audio over b-roll footage
-Cutaway shots to an old photo

Other thematic elements would include:
-Inspirational music, since it is a concluding segment, we should end it on a good note
-The use of the transition effects for emotion
-Cropping the shot to have the theatrical look

5 steps our team will take to have successful videography pieces:
-Use rigs or tripods for still footage
-Be organized
-Wide Variety of shots
-Have extra B-Roll footage
-Be open and not afraid to take your chances with filming or in an interview
Documentary Pitch Assignment
5 Camera Movements & Angles used:
-Over the shoulder (Beginning)
-Handheld (Throughout the video)
-Close up (On the people getting a haircut)
-Wide Shot (When he was in the garage and at the Barbershop)
-Quick Pan (While cutting hair)
-Crane Down (While Cutting Hair)
5 Editing Choices:
-J cuts and L cuts
-Slow motion on some clips (To create emotion)
-Having audio relate to what clip is up, so viewers understand it
-Opening up with a celebrity to create interest
-Have JayR, the barber, be the main focus through the video
5 Other thematic or narrative elements:
-Having music throughout transitions for it not to sound empty
-Cutting out music to focus on the subject talking or appearing
-Introduces JayR to let people know he's the main subject
-Showing celebrities to give off a vibe that JayR is well known
-Showing old pictures during the film, to relate to how he got to where he is now
