Measurements are at the heart of analysis, testing, and discovery. Irish mathematical physicist Lord Kelvin once said, “When you can measure what you are speaking about, and express it in numbers, you know something about it.” Guided by this spirit, we created Units of Measure.

This perpetual calendar illustrates and salutes the measurements that help us make sense of the world around us. Learn more about common units like the kilogram, and discover less familiar ones like the astronomical unit (AU).

As designers, we also couldn’t resist dedicating a month to the humble pica, a typographical unit that is deeply synonymous with what we do.
