History Brush Tool
From inside a car, this photo was taken of a bag of candy, and later edited for the purposes of drawing attention away from the background lights, and towards the package labeling and contents. Firstly, an adjustment layer was added to increase the brightness and contrast. Secondly, using Filter a blur was added to the entire image. Thirdly, with the history brush tool the bag and interior of car was put back into focus, leaving the view through the windshield blurred.
Selection Tools
This image was taken of a view in the Cape Cod area, outdoors. Firstly, I used the magic wand tool to make a selection of the land part of the image. Then with a Command + U, I changed the color of the flora to a dark purple. Secondly, I added an adjustment layer that increased the vibrance.
Resolution
This image was taken of a hotel, outdoors. Firstly, I went to image size and then increased the resolution. Secondly I added an adjustment layer, decreasing brightness and increasing contrast. Thirdly, I added another adjustment layer, increasing the vibrancy.
Image Mode
This image was taken of a monkey statue, indoors. Firstly, I changed the mode to grayscale. Secondly, I went into the Filter Gallery and added a Grain filter. Thirdly, I added an adjustment layer that increased the contrast.
Adjustment Layer
This view was taken from the Morse Library, the focus being the moon. The before photo didn’t put much emphasis on the moon, and the red of the buildings was very distracting. In photoshop an adjustment layer was added to the photo in order to draw attention towards the moon in the sky and not immediately towards the infrastructure. The layer decreased the brightness of the image while increasing the contrast.
Adjustment Panel
This view was taken from a fenced overlook of a beach in Cape Cod. The focus of this photo had been the fence and the bushes with their flowers. Firstly in the adjustment panel I lowered the posterization. Secondly, I adjusted the brightness and contrast so the individual details were more visible. The edits were intended to make the image look less like a photo and more like something a person would have created.
Brushes
This image is a close up of an orchid, taken indoors. Firstly, I used one the bushes for color replacement to color in the surroundings gray. Secondly, I added an adjustment layer to increase brightness and contrast.
Patch Tool
This image is a close up of a painted skull. Firstly, the patch tool was used to edit out crumbs and such from the table surface around the skull. Secondly, an adjustment layer was added, the brightness increased. Thirdly, another adjustment layer was added which inverted the colors. The purpose of this editing was to get rid of imperfections in the background, make the skull more visible, and make the details of the painting even more so.
Highlight and Shadow
This image is of a mini Stitch taken indoors. Firstly, in Adjustments and then in Shadows/Highlights, the amount of shadows was increased. This gave it a sort of 2D feeling. Secondly, an adjustment layer was added to increase contrast and increase brightness. This sort of brought out the “ground’s” red-gold hue and overall made the image more exciting.
Blending Modes
This image is of a fountain at a hotel in Disney World, taken indoors. Firstly, I placed the image in photoshop with another layer of texturized background. Secondly, I changed the blend mode of the fountain image (note, the texture layer is behind the fountain layer) to Hard Light. Thirdly, in adjustments I altered the brightness and contrast so the image wouldn’t be so intense.
