Scenography Attempts on her life

representation of Anny as Ahmedabad from “Attempts of her life” by Martin Crimp. We personified Ahmedabad as Annie/Annya/Annoushka/Anne, the central, multifaceted character from the text and created a personal room of the character.  A personal room is the place where one can not be fake. It is the true character of the person as there is nobody to judge him/her. We imagined what can be the personal space of Ahmedabad and tried to relate the elements to the character in the script.
I did the production for the space. Placing the different elements in the space and then giving them a dramatic appeal by controlling the light in the space.
Visitors were interacting with the objects kept in the room. Reading out the clippings on the table. finding little coin pouch in the desk. Checking the drawers for some hidden things. Peeping at the ash tray and tea kettle. Looking at alcohol bottles tagged with water sticker under the bed. Looking at the clothes she would prefer in her wardrobe. Her mysterious red bag which she would carry everywhere. The makeup she would wear before leaving the room. The movie being played on the screen depicting her one of the characters as sex worker interpreted as the culture of chai in Ahmedabad.
We hung manja (kite thread) from the roof to represent the confused and stuck character of Annie. Visitors were getting entangled in the manja and were trying to free themselves and while visiting the space. We invited them to a personal space and get a little taste of the Ahmedabad/Annie.
