Penguin Brief- One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
Penguin competition to design a new front cover
Penguin competition to design a new book cover for One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. My concept shows how the hospital is run like a machine by women. The cogs represent the machinery and are arranged in a downward triangle which is a symbol of femininity and the power of women. I chose red and white as the colour schemes as these are traditional medical colours. The typeface of the title is hand rendered to give a personal and free feeling to the cover. The main body of the text is in Helvetica, which is a neutral typeface often used on medicine packets.
