Butterfly Remains and Angelic Messengers, 12X12 Acrylic on canvas series This series is inspired by the short story Hell is the absence of God by Ted Chiang. Angels don't bring good cheer. Destruction and accidents happen. Years ago I went to Mexico. On the way there for an hour butterflies splashed acrosst the dashboard. It was trutly disugsting.But I never forgot about it. I wanted to paint the angels for a long time but did not know how to dress them. I saw an old musical with Barbara Cook. In it the women wore hoop skirts. The outfits were really quaint and fun.
