ARAB SPRING

I was commissioned by Baylor University to create this image to accompany an essay by Aymon Safadi on his reflections of the Arab Spring. Ayman Safadi earned his master’s in international journalism from Baylor in 1992 after which he returned to his native Jordan to serve in numerous leadership roles from Jordan’s Royal Press Service and the Jordan Radio and Television Corporation to spokesman for the United Nations mission in Baghdad. In 2009, Safadi was appointed Deputy Prime Minister and King’s Advisor to King Abdullah of Jordan. He is now editor-in-chief of Al Ghad newspaper, based in Amman. It is from this distinct experience and exceptional vantage point that Baylor Magazine asked Safadi to share his perspectives on this remarkable time in history dubbed by the media, “Arab Spring.”
