Torque is a branding and digital marketing agency in Chicago. The company website, though equipped with good content, needed to be redesigned to better showcase the company’s capabilities. The existing site structure was used, in lieu of making a brand new site and potentially losing content or needing to complete data entry.

First, site analytics were utilized to determine where users were navigating and how they were using the site. This data facilitated informed design changes that would make the site both more effective and user-friendly. Next, the site was copied to a new server and a full development environment was set up to make collaboration between developers easier. The two sites were connected so that as new content was published to the live site, it was automatically apparent on the site that was being re-designed.

The front-end design code was removed once the development system was setup. The unformatted content remained on the site, free of any previous design template restrictions. From that point onward, the project consisted of wholly front-end development. Once the re-design was completed, the site was cloned to a new production server and the DNS settings on the domain were switched to load the new site. The previous content, URLs and configuration settings remained the same as the previous site. After launch, analytics showed lower bounce rates and an increase in the time users remained on page.
