Flavrbox Animation

"Armed with only our goodwill and passion for food and enterprise, we decided to create a Flavrbox; a community that exists to champion independent food and drink producers by making it easy for people to discover and buy their products. At a basic level it works a bit like a farmer’s market, but it’s online, runs all year round and is national! Our vision is to draw people away from supermarket shopping habits and big multinational brands and open up a world of culinary delight."

The brief was to create something fun and quirky. I was given a script and simply went from there.

First of all came the rough storyboards which went through several refinements. Once we were all happy with the results I began to paint it all up.

Everything given to the animator by me was hand painted and made into separate layers on Photoshop before he made them into posable characters , objects and scenery.

So, first of all, here's the main character - Bob. It's not his official name, but his animator and I got tired of calling him "main character."
Bob is very simple in appearance because the rest of the animation was so bright and colourful. He stands out against the backgrounds. A little bird-like, Bob wears a bow tie to jazz himself up. Below you can see the original model I made to help me illustrate the main character throughout the animation process.
