Feller, 2012

“The YAAY team distinguished themselves through their creativity and clear understanding of Feller's vision and specific requirements." – Feller Line Up Competition Jury.

The century-old iconic Swiss company Feller, the electric outlet market leader in Switzerland, launched a competition to design a new communication and wayfinding system for their campus. The scope of the competition was to optimize the visitor experience and to make it more attractive for architects and electricians visiting the campus.

The project started with a thorough analysis and understanding of the historic Swiss industrial architecture as well as Feller's achievements in complex production processes. The main challenge was to present the knowledge and experience of Feller Campus in modern production technology while keeping attention on their corporate values such as comfort, reliability and design.

Based on a detailed analysis of the Feller Campus, we worked out a comprehensive approach applying experience design principles. We introduced, apart from the wayfinding system, a hand-illustrated conceptual map inspired by Wimmelbooks that visualizes the big picture and idealizes visitor experience. The principles behind it are: scenery, feel-good management, new attractions, activities and visitor management. In detail, the campus experience includes concepts for a brand history museum, a futuristic showroom with new products, a café with souvenirs, guided tours in the production halls, and an executive visitor room. Each concept is represented by a number and an explanation text next to the associated building in the campus.

Our results were awarded with the 1. Prize in Feller's Line Up competition.
